Andrea has built an extensive knowledge base about issues and trends in health care and social services during her 15 years in the public, private and non-profit sectors. She is skilled in community engagement and works effectively with various populations and diverse groups. She has demonstrated the unique ability to bring together programmatic and administrative elements necessary for effective management.

Her strength has been helping organizations that are challenged with running effective programs while establishing and maintaining solid infrastructure to find that necessary balance.

Andrea's specific areas of experience include: strong technical skills in business and strategic planning, data analysis and market research, quality improvement initiatives, improving cost-effectiveness, policy analysis, program development and budget preparation, and financial forecasting.
  • Designed the workflow process for a new provider relations unit for the MediPass program, Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. This included systemizing the enrollment of new providers and reenrollment of existing providers. She also operationalized a credentialing program for those Medicaid providers.
  • After critical review of internal financial policies, she initiated several cost-savings measures that resulted in more than $1M in savings for one organization.
  • Served as Executive Director of a grassroots, community-based organization whose mission is to make systemic improvements in the western communities of Palm Beach County. The organizational vision originated with the Board of County Commissioners, but Andrea was selected as director by leaders in the target community. She successfully led the organization from vision to implementation. She quadrupled the operating budget within 5 years, retired the organization's line of credit and developed the branding and marketing strategies. This organization continues to thrive in the community.
  • Andrea is also an expert facilitator/trainer in cultural competency. She led the successful implementation of a countywide language access program to promote the provision of linguistically and culturally appropriate health and human service delivery. The effort included integrating this new program into an existing cultural competency initiative, assessing needs within the county, and expanding capacity among the provider community through increasing the number of trained medical interpreters.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Florida. She also has a Master's in Health Science as well as a Master's in Business Administration (MBA), both from the University of Florida.

Ms. Stephenson has served on several boards of organizations in aging, healthcare, child welfare, and community partnerships. She is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County (Class of 2005), received the Heroes in Medicine Award for Community Involvement (2005), recognized by Success South Florida as one of the "Top 40 Black Professionals Under 40"(2006), and selected as a member of Who's Who in Black South Florida (2007).
